One Of The Most Vicious And Also Disrespectful Knockouts In Boxing History

Last night, Eleider Alvarez and Sergey Kovalev fought for the second time. However, hot lightweight prospect Teofimo Lopez took on Diego Magdaleno. The results were brutal, but man oh man were they beautiful. The main event between Alvarez and Kovalev went the distance, this was their second fight. In the first fight between the two, Alvarez knocked out Kovalev in stunning fashion. The rematch took place last night.

Alvarez’s first title defense was whisked away from him as the Russian claimed back his WBO Light Heavyweight title with a decision win. The main attraction of the night was Lopez however, as he scored a gorgeous knockout over Magdaleno. Throughout the whole fight, Magdaleno was thoroughly outboxed. Lopez was able to show off some more of his arsenal as he demonstrated his knowledge of angles and punch selection as well as insane athleticism and punching power.

The first knockdown came during the sixth round and had Magdaleno holding onto his conscience for dear life. The fight did not have to go on anymore, unfortunately for Magdaleno it did, and the rest isn’t pretty. After the first left hook landed, you could hear the lady commentator call for the fight to be stopped. She continued her appeal as the referee, for some reason, began giving an eight count.

In an attempt to try and convince Lopez he was okay, he egged the young prospect to hit him some more. In the process eating two absolutely monstrous left hooks that ended the fight. The referee gave Magdaleno the chance with an 8 count, but it wasn’t enough. The prospect is now 12-0 with 10 knockouts after this one. Magdaleno was a huge step up in competition for Lopez seeing as he is a former title challenger, this seemed to make no difference to Lopez making easy work of him…

Magdaleno’s corner could’ve stopped the fight long before it was officially stopped but it is what it is and Lopez moves further forward to earn bigger shots at better competition. Here are some is that absolutely crushing KO in all it’s savage beauty: I don’t know about you but that was hard to watch but at the same time I didn’t want to stop watching… It really may be ‘The Takeover’ for Lopez but who is next for him?
